Vol. 38 Gout
|
I will talk about gout today.
Eating too much meat and fish causes fermentation in the intestines. The
fermentation process produces an accumulation of the byproduct ammonia.
The Liver then changes the ammonia to uric acid, but if there is too much
uric acid, the Kidneys are unable to process it all causing the uric acid
to remain in the blood. The uric acid is then transferred to the joints,
causing in heat, pain and swelling.
What is important to prevent and to recover from gout is:
1. Do not eat too much meat and fish.
When you eat meat and fish, it is good to eat Daikon radish along with
the meal. Daikon radish prevents the occurrence of ammonia. Mushrooms are
also effective.
2. Strengthen the Kidneys.
When you have gout, your Kidney energy is weak, so it is important to always
strengthen it by eating beans, sea vegetables, root vegetables, etc.
As first aid, it is effective to apply Tofu on the diseased area to remove the heat and the poison of the uric acid. Please note that the Tofu must be the room temperature (about 30 minutes out of the refrigerator).
