Vol. 33 High Blood Pressure

The cause of high blood pressure is mainly the weakness of the Kidneys. In Eastern Medicine, the Kidneys play the roll of cleansing the water in our body. If the water becomes too cloudy for the Kidneys to clean, the Kidneys become weak and cannot control the Heart, resulting in rising of blood pressure.

What causes the cloudiness of the water and weakening of the Kidneys are sugar, animal food and salt. The sweetness of sugar acts to attack the Kidneys. When animal food is digested it leaves toxins and this taxes the Kidneys. Salt helps the Kidneys, but if the salt is refined such as table salt, it damages the Kidneys.

Therefore, the following is important to improve high blood pressure.
1. Take less sugar and especially avoid refined (white) sugar.
2. Decrease the amount and days of eating meat and fish.
3. Use sea salt which contains a lot of minerals.
4. Take root vegetables, seaweed and beans (especially Black beans) as often as possible
to strengthen the Kidneys.

Also, since Shiitake and Daikon Soup is very effective in removing the toxins from animal food and sugar, please try it. However, it is necessary to refrain from eating any animal food during the period you are eating this soup, and if you have any heart diseases, please do not drink this.
