Vol. 12 Constipation

Today I would like to talk about constipation.
What is the first thing you think of when you have constipation?
"I need more fiber."
Yes, that's half correct. It is good to have fiber when you have constipation.

However, there is something you have to pay attention to. If you take fiber when your intestines are weak, this causes your intestines to become weaker and worsens the symptoms. This is true whether you are having constipation or diarrhea. So how can you distinguish if your intestines are weak or not? Please check your heels. If your heels are rough, your intestines are weak. If this is the case, you should not eat fiber. If your heels are not rough, it is recommended to include plenty of fiber in your diet.

There are 2 types of constipation. The first is caused by over tightened intestines. While the intestines are tightened, too much heat accumulates. This accumulated heat causes all the water in the intestines to be absorbed and the feces then becomes dry and hard. The second type of constipation is caused by flaccid intestines. Elderly people and people who don't get a sufficient amount of exercise tend to have this kind of constipation.

If the amount of your stool is small, and it is hard and passes in small pieces, your intestines are too tight. In this case, it is good to have fiber and it is also effective to take one tablespoon of sesame oil as laxative.

If your bowel movements are irregular and the stool is loose after passing it, then your intestines are too loose or flaccid. It is good to have fiber and also to add a little salt into your meals to tighten up your intestines.

If a child has constipation, it is good to eat ground apples. In the case of a baby, half an apple is good enough.
