Vol. 10 Diarrhea Part II

Today's subject continues from the last time. Last time I talked about diarrhea caused by food poisoning. Today I would like to talk about diarrhea caused by coldness.

Even in the summer this type of diarrhea happens often, because we are continually cooling ourselves with air conditioners, and by eating and drinking cold foods and drinks. For prevention, it is better just not to take cold foods and drinks, even though it is enjoyable and sounds difficult not to do. So if you have this type of diarrhea, it is good to drink Ume-sho-bancha (See Vol. 9) with kudzu and then take a half body bath to warm up your abdomen. The water in the bath should be at about your body temperature, plus about 7 degree F. When you begin sweating a little bit, finish bathing.
Powder of kudzu vine---------------------1~2 table spoon
Water-------------------------------------1~2 table spoon
Dissolve powder of kudzu vine with water and mix with Ume-sho-bancha and warm it, stirring until it becomes clear and sticky. Drink it while it is warm.

In the case of a child, if he or she has diarrhea with dark stool, it is good to eat ground apples. If the stool is yellowish or light color, it is good to do the above.
