Vol. 4 Do you want to fly?
|
Today I would like to talk about an interesting thing about body temperature.
Do you want to fly? Birds need more than 41degree C (105.8 degree F) of the body temperature to fly. Chickens are kinds of birds, but they can’t fly because their body temperature is 40 degree C (104 degree F). Bats’ body temperature is 41 degree C (105.8 degree F) which is minimum temperature to fly. Their temperature is much lower when they are hanging from trees so they need to shake their body to raise their body temperature to 41 degree C when they fly. Birds which have the highest body temperature are sparrows. Their body temperature is 43 degree C (109.4 degree F), so they can fly without running. Now do you think we can fly when we catch a cold and our body temperature becomes more than 41 degree C? Unfortunately, it is not so simple. But what can be said from this is that body temperature goes against gravity. Diseased people have low body temperature. They feel it is difficult to stand up or sit down, because they don’t have enough temperature to do something against gravity. The body temperature is lowest in the morning, and people who have low blood pressure have a much lower body temperature. They can’t move, not because of their low blood pressure, but their low body temperature. Chickens may be able to fly if their body temperature becomes 41 degree C since they are at least birds.
